Chattanooga, TN – Back for the sixteenth year and bringing with it over 30 of the
Southeast's most notable microbreweries is the annual Southern Brewers Festival,
presented by Big River Grille & Brewing Works. On Saturday, August 28, 2010 from
2PM until midnight, Ross's Landing in downtown Chattanooga will be transformed into
a beer-lover's dream as over 75 premium ales and lagers will be featured along Riverfront
Parkway. In addition to the vast selection of beers, a variety of food vendors will
also be on hand to keep patrons satisfied throughout the event. Local establishments
including Big River Grille & Brewing Works will feature signature festival-fare
including burgers, brats, hot dogs and barbeque, while others offer visitors everything
from Cajun dishes and lemonade to Philly-style cheese steaks, fries, and more.
Entertainment will also be a big draw for this year's festival. The featured headliner for the event is none other than Big Head Todd & the Monsters, one of the region's most popular acts. After issuing two popular independent releases on their Big imprint, the band hooked up with Irving Azoff's Giant Records for the platinum album Sister Sweetly. The Monsters issued four chart albums on Giant and Warner Brothers.
Also featured this year will be Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, based out of San Diego. Denson is a funk and jazz saxophonist, flutist and vocalist. He was a member of Lenny Kravitz's band and has co-founded and led The Greyboy Allstars. Denson has recorded with artists including Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, Blind Boys of Alabama, Stanton Moore and Jon Foreman of the rock band Switchfood.
