He was inducted with the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, and personally received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

As leader of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman spent time here in Chattanooga in the late 70s when they recorded portions of their critically acclaimed and Grammy Award nominated "Enlightened Rouges" at Pyramid Studio on Lookout Mountain.

His distinctive Southern-accented voice placed him in 70th place in Rolling Stone's Magazine list of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time".

"We are extremely excited about this opportunity to partner with WaterPark Presents and of course The Gregg Allman Band in an effort to help educate children about sensitive issues and concerns in our region," said Kelly Williams, Executive Director, Chattanooga's Kids on the Block.

For over 30 years, Chattanooga's Kids on the Block has used the non-threatening medium of puppetry called Bunraku to introduce sensitive issues to children in the classroom, giving them skills to stay safe and healthy. Included in their programs are child abuse awareness, childhood obesity, autism, dental hygiene, organ donation, bereavement, bullying, gangs & violence, anger management, personal safety and much more. As the puppets come to life, children identify with them and open us as if they were trusted friends. All requests for help are turned over to the proper authorities.

Chattanooga's Kids on the Block serves a 12 county area in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. Last year alone, Chattanooga's Kids on the Block presented over 400 programs, serving over 53,000 children and adults.

The programs are free of charge to schools in our service area thanks to funding from United Way, Tennessee Department of Children's Services, Chattanooga Area Brain Injury Association, Tennessee Donor Services, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Civitan Club, Sertoma Club of Chattanooga and Kiwanis Club among others, individual donors, and fundraising events such as Southern Brewers Festival and the partnership with WaterPark Presents.
